Catechist Information
Whether you are an existing catechist or a person seeking more information on what being a catechist entails, there is something for you here and in the subpages listed on the right.
What does SPRED offer? SPRED offers the opportunity for our Friends with developmental disabilities to grow in faith but also offers catechists the same opportunity. Each session with persons with disabilities is preceded by a catechist preparation session. The catechists gather together to renew their own appreciation in faith of the mystery to be celebrated in the session with the total community. Catechists bond together and build a community of faith that is founded in friendship and trust. If you are interested in becoming a SPRED catechist, contact your parish to see if there is a SPRED program in place and you will be connected with a SPRED catechist. If there is none at this time, contact Julia Hess at [email protected]. It may be that you are the instrument that makes a difference to those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in your parish. |
