SPRED or Special Religious Development has been a part of Queen of Apostles Parish on the north side of Chicago for over 45 years. This would not be possible without the trust, blessing and support of wonderful pastors and associate pastors, committed to offering faith formation to all throughout these years. We have also been blest with the support of parishioners who believe that liturgical experiences are enriched by the inclusion and participation of all.
There are four faith communities call Queen of Apostles home and offer the opportunity to grow in faith through friendship in the welcoming and peaceful environment on the second floor of the parish center.
If you know of someone with developmental disabilities who might benefit from belonging to a SPRED program, please contact us.
Our goal is to welcome young adults and adults in one of our SPRED communities. For anyone 16 and under, we facilitate
placement for them in the nearest age-appropriate parish SPRED program.
If you are interested in participating as a volunteer in one of our communities, please contact Julia Hess at 773-539-7510 or email. All that is required is an openness to share your life and friendship with others.
In keeping with the requirements of the Archdiocese of Chicago, all catechists are required to have a background check and complete Virtus Training for Protecting God's Children.
If you simply wish to know more about SPRED in general, feel free to browse through the website.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
