    Each SPRED Community has three volunteers who elect to take on leadership roles for their group and become the core team​.
  • A Parish Chairperson, who recruits volunteers, and who places those with developmental disabilities in their own parish group or networks with PC'S from surrounding parishes to place age-appropriate referrals. 
  • An Activity Catechist, who welcomes each person, prepares the environment, fostering a sense of well-being, belonging and assists all to select and concentrate on a preparation activity.
  • A Leader Catechist who inspires the Catechesis in our Celebration Circle, stirring memories and helping all become aware of God's presence in our lives.
Training for the core team is required and provides a foundation and understanding of faith development, the elements used in the SPRED method and enable these leaders to guide their community through all phases of SPRED sessions. Training is extended to those wishing to further their understanding of SPRED and are not in a leadership role at this time.  Refresher training is also recommended for anyone wishing to update their skills.
Core Team Training is divided into two parts over five Saturdays.
​Please note there is a nominal fee to cover the cost of training ​which your parish or SPRED community may cover. ​

SPRED Orientation is the foundation of SPRED and is offered over three consecutive Saturdays.

Advanced SPRED Orientation:
Day One - Sept. 13th, 2025 -- 10am to 3pm
Day Two - Sept. 20th, 2025.  -- 10am to 3pm  
Role Orientation for Leader Catechist, Activity Catechist or Parish Chairperson
Role Orientation    Offered over two consecutive Saturdays.    
Day One:  October 4th, 2025
Day Two :  October 11th, 2025.
